Speaking on the fast bowler’s determination towards the game and his nation, the coach further added, “The fact he was still hoping to play on, carrying these injuries shows you just how determined he is to try and give his all for the team.”

32-year-old right-arm fast bowler Doug Bracewell has been named the replacement for Neil Wagner ahead of the second test match and will soon join the team’s camp. Bracewell, who last played a test match for New Zealand in 2016, has been in sublime form in the domestic circuit and has produced some match-winning performances for his domestic team, Central Stags. In 27 test appearances for the Kiwis, Bracewell has picked up 72 wickets for the team at an average of 38.83.

“Doug is a skillful bowler who has been in strong form for the Central Stags across formats this season. We believe his skills will complement the rest of the bowlers we have in the group going into the next Test.”, said New Zealand’s coach Gary Stead.
